Learn to Square Dance with KSD
Beginner and plus-level lessons start in September—there’s a class waiting for you.
Looking for fun, friendly square dance lessons? The Kennesaw Square Dealers invite you to try square dancing in a welcoming, modern way that often changes people’s expectations from the first class. With over 50 years in Cobb County, the club has helped generations of dancers stay active, make friends, and enjoy an uplifting activity.
Beginner classes
Ready to try something new? Our next beginner series starts with a free open house on September 3, 2026, followed by weekly classes every Thursday from 7–9 p.m. You don’t need rhythm, experience, or even confidence on day one—just show up. Classes are designed to get you moving quickly while building skills step-by-step in a relaxed, supportive environment where everyone is learning together.
Plus-level classes
For dancers who have completed mainstream lessons, plus-level classes begin September 2, 2026, and will be held each Wednesday from 7–9 p.m. Dancers will learn all 50 plus calls as part of the revised program.
Where it all happens
All classes take place at the Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive, Kennesaw, Georgia.
What square dancing is really like today
Forget the old stereotypes. Modern square dancing blends traditional roots with upbeat, popular music of all styles—and yes, it frequently surprises newcomers how fun it feels right away. Traditional attire is optional, and most dancers dress casually. And despite the name, it’s not just four couples in a square—it’s team dancing for eight people, working together while a caller guides the movements in real time.
Why people stick with it:
- Low-impact motion that doesn’t feel like “exercise”
- Mental stimulation that keeps your brain engaged
- A friendly, no-pressure social community
- A screen-free way to unwind and stay active
Do I need to bring a partner?
Nope—come solo if you’d like. Classes are structured so everyone is included, and experienced dancers are always there to help.
