Bill and I (yes, of course, I am writing this newsletter) want you to know how excited we are to be taking the helm as presidents of our wonderful club! We look forward to working with Tom and Ann Ryan, Raiford Peacock, Elaine Vess, and Elisa Pate, and you, our members, to continue moving our club forward, in great squares, and dancing to terrific callers. Also a big shout-out goes to Marian Ley for volunteering to oversee Kitchen Duty Scheduling, and to Johnny and Linda DeBoard for being our Procurement Chairs. They will make sure we have plenty of plastic ware, plates, cups, napkins, etc.
We had a great time at our KSD Anniversary and Caller & Cuer Appreciation Dance Friday! Thank you to everyone who attended and made this dance special. We were also happy to see many of our members who have not been with us for awhile! I am positive that both Ray and Anne appreciated all the wonderful thank-you cards. Thank you members for supporting the most important people in our club!!!
An Update on Anne: She has an exploratory surgical procedure scheduled for July 2nd. KSD sent cards and flowers, but if you want to send her a card, her address is in the attached, current club roster.
We will be handing out flyers about our upcoming square dance lessons to the crowd at the City of Kennesaw's Salute to America on July 3rd. The program runs from 6:00 – 9:30. We hope that many of you will come out to support and participate in our club's recruiting efforts, and enjoy the wonderful program and fireworks that our city does for us. Please remember that the most important recruiting activity is how YOU find potential students and bring them to class! It all starts in September, so share our FB Fan Page far and wide! www.facebook.com/KSDClub.
We are looking for a few members to step up and chair or co-chair a few committees and events:
- Pigs and Peaches
- Decorations for Dances and Events
- Big Shanty Festival

We appreciate and applaud the efforts of our out-going officers. Thank you all so much for your dedication.
You will notice in the upcoming events that Dudes 'n Darlins are folding and their last dance is July 26th. Last Saturday four of our KSD members visited the Wheel Arounds dance, and they had a total of three squares. Unless we start visiting other clubs, we are headed in the same direction as other clubs in our area.

July 26 — Visitation to Dudes 'n Darlins Farewell Dance (they are disbanding and will not be dancing anymore), Mountain View Community Center

Aug 3 — Pink Ribbon Square Dance, 2:30 – 5:00pm, Mountain View Community Center – We will collect donations at our July 18th dance.

Friday's dance is our KSD Anniversary and Caller & Cuer Appreciation Dance! Ray and Anne do an AWESOME job for KSD, so it is really important that we demonstrate our appreciation for all they do for our club. We encourage our Life Members and folks who haven't been to a dance in some time to please join us for this annual event. We would love to visit with you and have you in our squares! Thank you in advance for supporting the most important people in our club!!!
This is the last dance that our current officers will be at the helm, as the new officers take over in July. Please give them all the support you can! If you are willing to volunteer to help the club, please contact them any time. They will surely be able to identify opportunities for you to support our great club. For example, we are still looking for a VOLUNTEER TO TAKE OVER THE PHOTOGRAPHY for the next year. If you have a camera and a computer and would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you!
Here's a special note from Jim and Karen Mann: Thank you, KSD, for the privilege of being your officers for the last 3 1/2 years! We appreciate the efforts from all of the officers with whom we served, Randy, Patti, Dan, Andrea, Denise, Albury, Al, Julia, and Heather. We have enjoyed working with you and becoming good friends! We wish all the best to our incoming officers, Julie, Bill, Tom, Ann, Raiford, Elaine, and Elisa. We hope you enjoy the experience as much as we did! We had a great time at our Bon Voyage Dance Friday! Thanks to everyone who attended and stayed afterwards for our meeting. The election of next year's officers is in the books and the results are:

Did you know that there are several "Behind The Scenes" positions within KSD and that we rely on volunteers to help keep various tasks moving forward? We have folks who organize kitchen duty, maintain our inventory of kitchen supplies, record club history through pictures, and nominate officers for the next year. Special thanks go out to Julie Jarrett, Nancy & Melvin Barber, Albury Gardner, and Frank Bailey for doing such great jobs with these tasks for the last year!!!
WE NEED A VOLUNTEER TO TAKE OVER THE PHOTOGRAPHY FOR THE NEXT YEAR. If you have a camera and a computer and would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you! Please keep supporting your local square dance clubs because there would be no square dancing without them!
Our next dance is our KSD Anniversary and Caller & Cuer Appreciation Dance! Watch your inbox for special plans! It also happens to be the last dance that our current officers will be at the helm. The current officers are so proud of our club and we thank all of our members for being supportive and doing whatever it takes to keep KSD strong!
